Description
The University Union on the campus of Sac State is seeking to hire two student assistants to help with various IT related duties. The position is responsible for assisting in the general operation, maintenance, and support of all workstations, servers, printers, and other hardware devices/software applications in the University Union and The Well buildings. Additional assistance is required with digital signage, television systems, IP security cameras, biometrics, network door counter sensors, wired/wireless networking, web programming, and gaming consoles.

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause. Depending on the type of position you are applying for, a pre-employment background check consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted: employment history, professional references, criminal check, educational verification (degree, license, or official transcript), or driver clearance. Applicants will be required to pass required pre-employment checks to the satisfaction of University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) and the hiring Agency or Department. UEI does not allow employees to hold more than one UEI Job at a time, or work in more than one college or center per pay period. UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI Student assistant position for a different UEI student assistant position should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week’s notice. |

Prerequisites
|
Students working at the University Union or The WELL must be attending classes at Sacramento State during the regular term (Fall, Spring), and enrolled in a minimum of nine (9) semester units for undergraduate students or six (6) semester units for graduate students. |

Additional Work Schedule
|
Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 20 hours per work week (Sunday – Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per work week during breaks; (winter, spring & summer).

Compensation
|
$17.65 per hour

Minimum Qualifications
|
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating systems (Including Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012).
- Knowledge and general troubleshooting ability for Windows based applications including: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- General knowledge and ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows based applications.
- General knowledge of Anti-Virus protection and a general understanding of Malware.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP based wired and wireless (802.11b/g/n) networks, both hardware and components.
- General understanding of client server, web based, and database driven applications.
- Ability to document resolutions to problems/issues for future reference.

Preferred Qualifications
|
- A general understanding of Information Resources and Technology (IRT).
- Prior experience working in a University setting.
- Knowledge of the following applications/technologies: Microsoft IIS (Internet Information Services), Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Firewalls, VPN (Virtual Private Networking).
- General experience with MAC OS X, and/or working in a cross platform environment (Windows / Macintosh).
- Web programming experience, familiarity with Expression Engine (Content Management System).

Duties and Responsibilities
|
- Act as a front line contact for desktop support issues for University Union and The Well administrative offices.
- Assist in prioritizing these issues, providing assistance, and documenting actions in ticket reporting system.
- Assistant in the general maintenance and operation of the Student Computer Room facilities. This requires assisting and addressing workstation issues, cleanliness of workstations, and additionally verifying proper printer supplies are available for students.
- Perform routine software updates on workstations and servers as assigned.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of policies and procedures for the Information Technology department.
- Assist in the inventory/asset management of all workstations, servers, printers and other IT related hardware.
- Assist in the installation of new workstations, and re-installation of current workstations, including operating system/software application installation/imaging/deployment, and hardware upgrades.
- Other duties and projects as assigned to assist the Information Technology Department.

Physical Requirements
|
Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Working Conditions
|
Work is performed either in a gym or office environment or a combination of the two. Continuous contact with staff and patrons. Frequent contact with the campus community and the public.

Summary
Union WELL Inc. is an auxiliary corporation situated on the California State University, Sacramento campus, serving a diverse university community of nearly 30,500 students. The auxiliary organization manages Information Technology in two facilities: The University Union and The WELL.
Both facilities contain workstations, printers, cameras, digital signage, clocks, building management systems and other electronic equipment that is managed by the Information Technology department.
The University Union facility is approximately 216,787 sq. ft. The University Union houses food service operations, retail operations, meeting spaces, offices, student computer room, games room, and various public lounge area.
The WELL facility consists of approximately 151,000 square feet (122,000 sq. ft. of recreation area, and 29,000 sq. ft. wellness/health center area). The WELL houses basketball courts, a MAC court, racquetball courts, fitness studios, a cardio room, a weight lifting area, fitness trainer spaces, fitness testing room, a climbing wall, a fitness performance center, a small conference center, locker rooms, a cabana locker room and administrative offices, in addition to various lounges.
