Description
The University Union on the campus of Sac State is seeking to hire one student to serve as the Information Technology Web Programmer. The position is responsible for assisting with web related programming for the development, deployment, and maintenance of websites for the Union WELL Inc auxiliary. Union WELL Inc. hosts 3 major websites for the University including: The Well, The University Union, and the Union WELL Inc. corporate website. Additionally Union WELL has several web-based related systems that allow for online room reservation and The Well members portal.
This position reports directly to and receives supervision from Information Technology Manager at Union WELL Inc. Secondarily, this position will receive direction form the organization’s design and marketing groups to ensure effective marketing strategies are applied across all website platforms.

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.

Prerequisites
|
Students working at the University Union or The WELL must be attending classes at Sacramento State during the regular term (Fall, Spring), and enrolled in a minimum of nine (9) semester units for undergraduate students or six (6) semester units for graduate students.

Work Schedule
|
Flexible workdays and work hours, Monday – Friday, between 8 AM – 5 PM. Final work schedule to be determined by supervisor.

| Additional Work Schedule |
Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 20 hours per work week (Sunday – Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per work week during breaks; (winter, spring & summer).

$18.40 per hour

Minimum Qualifications
|
- Knowledge of web programming standards and trends in current generation web technologies.
- Knowledge of website marketing trends and strategies.
- Experience working with content management systems.
- Knowledge in HTML, CSS, PHP, ASP.net, Javascript, XML, mySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and RSS.
- The ability to convert raw images and layouts from a graphic designer into CSS/XHTML themes.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating systems (Including Windows 10, Windows Server 2016, 2019) and Linux Operating Systems.
- General knowledge and ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows and Apple based applications.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP based wired and current wireless networks, both hardware and components.
- Ability to document resolutions to problems/issues for future reference.

Preferred Qualifications
|
- A general understanding of Information Resources and Technology (IRT) and/or technology related functions on the Sacramento State campus.
- Experience working with Squarespace and or WordPress.
- Experience working with source control systems such as Git.
- Ability to work integrating various API’s (Application Program Interfaces) with websites or systems.
- Experience working with Adobe creative cloud.
- Prior experience working in a University setting.
- Knowledge of the following applications/technologies: Apache, Tomcat, Microsoft IIS, Microsoft Active Directory, Firewalls, VPN, FTP, and SSH.
- General experience with MAC OS X, and/or working in a cross platform environment (Windows / Apple).
- Knowledge to develop mobile website and/or applications.
- Knowledge of accessible and responsive web design principles.

Duties and Responsibilities
|
- Participate in the creation and development of major and minor websites for Union WELL Inc.
- Collaborate with design and marketing staff to ensure effective design and marketing strategies are applied on all auxiliary managed websites.
- Perform on-going/routine site maintenance through a front-end content management system, including minor page or website re-designs.
- Perform various updates to sites as requested by stakeholders involving content, template design, and programming changes.
- Assist Union WELL Inc. Information Technology staff with other various tasks related to the management of web servers and systems.
- Collaborate with multiple stakeholders including a design and marketing team, attend meetings, and routinely communicate status on current web projects.
- Monitor ongoing trends in web-programming, technology and development at other CSUs and higher education institutions.

Summary
Union WELL Inc. is an auxiliary corporation situated on the California State University, Sacramento campus, serving a diverse university community of nearly 30,500 students. The auxiliary organization manages Information Technology in two facilities: The University Union and The WELL.
Both facilities contain workstations, printers, cameras, digital signage, clocks, building management systems and other electronic equipment that is managed by the Information Technology department.
The University Union facility is approximately 216,787 sq. ft. The University Union houses food service operations, retail operations, meeting spaces, offices, student computer room, games room, and various public lounge area.
The WELL facility consists of approximately 151,000 square feet (122,000 sq. ft. of recreation area, and 29,000 sq. ft. wellness/health center area). The WELL houses basketball courts, a MAC court, racquetball courts, fitness studios, a cardio room, a weight lifting area, fitness trainer spaces, fitness testing room, a climbing wall, a fitness performance center, a small conference center, locker rooms, a cabana locker room and administrative offices, in addition to various lounges.
