UNIS seeks an experienced Elementary School teacher with a successful track record to teach Junior School Spanish. This position reports to the Junior School Principal and the Director of Modern Languages.
POSITION PURPOSE
Spanish Language Teacher
- Seeking an experienced Spanish educator with a background in Junior School teaching in a multicultural and multilingual environment.
- This is a full-time position.
- This teacher will be a part of a collaborative department with an internationally focused curriculum.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Primary responsibilities include teaching Spanish Language to students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 4 in the Junior School.
- Supervising students during non-instructional time, attending curriculum and grade level meetings.
- Other duties as assigned and in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (e.g. supervision duties, office hours, etc.)

REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree required (Master's Degree preferred)
- Experience in a K-12 educational environment essential
- Five years teaching experience, preferably in an international setting
- Demonstrated knowledge of current research in grades Prek-4 language education. FLES Certification preferred.
- Experience with best practices in assessment and reporting best practices preferred (e.g. Standard-Based Grading and Reporting)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time while instructing or demonstrating teaching techniques.
- Capability to move around the classroom to provide individual support to students.
- Comfort with lifting and handling art materials, supplies and student projects, occasionally requiring up to 15 lbs. of weight.
- Dexterity and fine motor skills required for demonstrating teaching techniques and using tools and materials in the classroom.
COMPENSATION
Compensation is between $67,745 to $111,974 commensurate with years of experience as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (salary is prorated for part-time or temporary positions).
