Schedule: Monday – Friday 1st shift – Saturdays as needed


United Ag & Turf NE is looking for a Maintenance Mechanic that is responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks as outlined in the owner’s manual, completing machine inspections, and documenting potential repairs on work orders. This role may require some direction or guidance from the Service Manager, Service Location Manager, Shop Foreman, or senior technicians while supporting the Service department in a professional, safe, and timely manner.


What You’ll Do

  • Performs maintenance tasks on all John Deere equipment at suggested intervals
  • Performs required work quickly and efficiently within standard job times
  • Performs repairs on all makes and models of equipment
  • Inspects machine during routine maintenance to identify any additional repairs noting them on the work order
  • Accountable for billable time and assigned work orders
  • Responsible for complete and thorough documentation of diagnostics and repairs performed on work orders and on time submittal of information
  • May participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
  • Operates and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment required to perform job responsibilities
  • Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
  • Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products         


Requirements

What It Takes

  • Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment used in machinery routine maintenance
  • Experience with the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in off road, construction, lawn, or heavy equipment
  • Experience with basic computer functions; experience using Service ADVISOR™ preferred
  • or other computer based diagnostic repair tools preferred 
  • Experience working cooperatively in a team environment
  • Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing
  • Must have an adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities

Preferred

  • Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Stand for long periods of time, bend, lay, and crawl under to repair and service machines.
  • Lift parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Maneuver on/under heavy equipment and on agricultural/construction sites with irregular terrain
  • Operate a motor vehicle during both day and night as well.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, type or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear, sit, stand, and walk.
