About the role

UNIDIR's Conventional Arms and Ammunition Programme is looking for two Graduate Professionals: one to support Research Pillar 2: Preventing Armed Conflict and Armed Violence, and another to support the Exploratory Research Cell. The position for the Research Pillar 2 will be based in Geneva, Switzerland, while the position for the Exploratory Research Cell will be remote. Applicants are encouraged to specify their preference in their application. Within UNIDIR's Conventional Arms and Ammunition Programme, the Graduate Professionals shall perform the following duties under the supervision of the Programme Head: Background research and analysis; Providing administrative support to the programme, including assisting in the planning and implementation of programme activities (e.g. meetings, workshops, conferences, field missions and in record-keeping and monitoring); and Performing other tasks, as required. Key Skills & Interests Project management and/or implementation; Research and presentation; Ability to synthesize information into concise, high-quality written briefs; Organization and coordination of multiple tasks; Interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills (written and oral); Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (in particular Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); Knowledge of and experience in conventional arms control relevant to Research Pillar 2 or the Exploratory Research Cell will be considered an asset; Experience in data collection and analysis, and knowledge of relevant software and tools will be considered an asset; Knowledge of gender issues or experience with gender mainstreaming in a field relevant to the position is desirable; and Should be interested in international peace and security, disarmament and conventional arms control, and/or the work of the United Nations.
