About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Underground Mine Planner to support short-term and medium-term planning for underground metal mining operations. This role is critical in ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction aligned with production targets, geological conditions, and statutory requirements.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical planning expertise, hands-on underground mining exposure, and proficiency in mine planning software.
Key Responsibilities
Mine Planning & Design- Prepare short-term (weekly/monthly) and medium-term (quarterly/annual) mine plans
- Design underground layouts including stopes, development headings, haulage routes, and ventilation circuits
- Ensure all plans comply with statutory regulations and mine safety standards
Production Scheduling- Develop production schedules based on ore body characteristics, equipment availability, and manpower planning
- Coordinate with operations teams to ensure effective execution of plans
Geological & Data Integration- Collaborate with the geology team for ore grade control and resource optimization
- Integrate geological data into practical mine planning decisions
Monitoring & Optimization- Track plan vs. actual production and development progress
- Analyze deviations and recommend corrective actions
- Optimize designs to improve recovery and minimize dilution
Cost & Resource Optimization- Support budgeting and cost estimation for underground operations
- Optimize drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling cycles for productivity
Safety & Compliance- Ensure adherence to DGMS guidelines and statutory norms
- Incorporate safe mining practices into all mine designs
Reporting & Documentation- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports
- Maintain accurate documentation of mine plans, revisions, and progress
Stakeholder Coordination- Work closely with operations, geology, and maintenance teams
- Support strategic decisions for mine development and production planning
Required Skills & CompetenciesTechnical Skills
- Proficiency in mine planning software such as Datamine and AutoCAD
- Strong understanding of underground mining methods (Cut & Fill, Stoping, etc.)
- Knowledge of ventilation systems and ground control practices
Analytical Skills
- Strong data interpretation and problem-solving ability
- Ability to optimize plans under operational constraints

Qualifications- B.E. / B.Tech in Mining Engineering
- Valid First Class Manager’s Certificate of Competency (Unrestricted) – Mandatory
Experience- Minimum 5 years of experience in underground metal mining
- Hands-on experience in underground mine planning and scheduling
Preferred Experience- Exposure to mechanized underground mining
- Experience with digital mine planning tools and analytics
- Familiarity with statutory inspections and compliance requirements
