About The Role

Within this role, the person has to develop and implement Public Policy strategies in India and South Asia. The person will report directly to the Director of Public Policy for India and South Asia and will be based out of Delhi. Our public policy team is responsible for working with policymakers, regulators, and third parties to make the positive case for Uber as a platform. That's about building lasting relationships in the cities where we operate with politicians and their staff, so they understand the benefits of Uber's services. Policy at Uber is business critical and has a real impact on our markets. It is for people who are keen to have skin in the game on business decisions and are passionate about being an advocate for change to unlock the full potential of our technology.

What The Candidate Will Do

  • Policy Strategy & Development: Assist in the design and execution of Uber's public policy strategy for India and South Asia in alignment with global and regional priorities. Anticipate regulatory challenges and identify proactive opportunities to shape favorable policy outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key government agencies, transport regulators, policy influencers, and industry associations. Represent Uber in meetings, consultations, and public forums.
  • Thought Leadership & Representation: Position Uber as a thought leader in the mobility and transportation policy space. Contribute to the development of white papers, policy proposals, and public communications.
  • Advocacy & Issue Management: Advocate for policies that support ride-hailing innovation, regulatory modernization, and the broader mobility ecosystem. Lead efforts to influence policies that accelerate the First Mile Last Mile Partnerships with the various Government Metros and Railways, especially for Motos(2W) and Autos(3W). Anchor all Safety initiatives and outreaches with the Various Transport Departments in India, Bangladesh, and SriLanka, including Driver/Rider and Road Safety initiatives.
  • Regulatory Monitoring & Response: Monitor legislative and regulatory trends across the region. Develop strategies and lead campaigns to adapt to or influence regulatory shifts that may impact the business.

What The Candidate Will Need

  • 11 years plus of proven experience in public policy, government relations, or regulatory affairs, ideally within the tech, mobility, or infrastructure sectors.
  • A Master's in Public Policy/International Relations/Business Administration/or similar fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive complex policy outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex policy issues to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to partner closely with internal teams-including Operations, Communications, Legal, and Tax-to provide strategic policy insights and ensure coordinated responses to regulatory developments.
