Role Overview
We are looking for a UAV Integration Specialist to lead the end-to-end integration of hardware, electronics, and software across our UAV platforms. This role bridges mechanical assembly, avionics, propulsion, and embedded systems, ensuring every subsystem works together seamlessly before field deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full system integration process across UAV platforms, including airframe, avionics, propulsion, payload, and communication systems.
- Develop and maintain integration procedures, wiring diagrams, harness layouts, and system-level documentation.
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and embedded engineering teams to resolve interface conflicts and integration issues.
- Perform functional testing, subsystem verification, and pre-flight checks on integrated UAV systems.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve system-level failures during integration and testing phases.
- Maintain component-level traceability and configuration control throughout the integration lifecycle.
- Support field trials, document anomalies, and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Ensure integration activities comply with internal quality standards and any applicable aerospace or defence requirements.
- Manage integration timelines, flag risks early, and communicate status to programme leads.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of integration processes and tooling.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline; 3+ years of hands-on UAV or aerospace integration experience.
- Strong understanding of UAV subsystems: flight controllers, ESCs, GPS/IMU, telemetry links, power distribution, and payloads.
- Proficiency in reading and producing wiring schematics, harness diagrams, and interface control documents (ICDs).
- Hands-on experience with autopilot platforms such as Pixhawk, ArduPilot, or PX4.
- Familiarity with communication protocols: CAN bus, MAVLink, UART, I2C, SPI.
- Experience using ground control station software (Mission Planner, QGroundControl) for configuration and testing.
- Solid understanding of electrical safety, connectorisation, and cable management for airborne systems.
- Strong documentation discipline and attention to detail.
Experience
- 3+ years in system integration for UAV, aerospace, or complex electromechanical platforms.
