Duties
Serve as a Shift Supervisor who exercises direct supervision of the activities of a guard force shift consisting of subordinate Security Guards at the GS-06 level and Lead Security Guards.,Responsible for performing a diverse range protective responsibilities over Federal property, employees, and visitors.,Plan and coordinate the activities of a guard force shift, to ensure the maintenance of physical security standards; enforcement of federal state, and local laws and official orders and regulations.,Develop training plans based on approved training courses and regulatory requirements and supervises necessary training for guard personnel in the use of weapons, protection against espionage, sabotage, and other organized subversive actions.,Perform supervisory and administrative duties relating to the security guard force.,Inspect the personnel appearance and the knowledge of duties of the on duty guard force.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes leading personnel performing access control operations, safeguarding personnel, information and critical assets; using access control equipment; regulating pedestrian and vehicular traffic; providing comprehensive reports of work deficiencies to higher level supervisors; and addressing and/or elevating employee grievances. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Other Information
This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer such as chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton. The incumbent must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments. The incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminals. Employee must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors. Employee must be able to perform as a member of the installation's overall security response capability. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. In making this determination, the agency may consider your performance and conduct; agency needs and interests; whether your continued employment supports organizational or Government goals; and whether it promotes the efficiency of the Federal service. Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest. This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed. Direct deposit of pay is required.
