Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer Supervisor without more than normal supervision. 1) establishing deadlines, priorities, work sequences and work assignments based on schedules, methods and policies set by supervisors; 2) performing maintenance/repair work on Army ground equipment to maintain serviceability conditions as dictated by federal and state laws and regulations; 3) determining how many assignments can be done concurrently, type of employees needed considering skills, personnel, materials and equipment available; 4) using diagnostic test equipment to correct equipment malfunctions; 5) using schematics, technical manuals and wiring diagrams to perform troubleshooting and repairs of Army ground equipment; and 6) using an automated maintenance management system such as Global Combat Support System- Army (GCSS-A). - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading) Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc. Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Troubleshooting Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort: Required to work in tiring or uncomfortable positions for long periods. Frequent bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching is required. Sometimes works on top of and under vehicles in cramped or awkward positions. Performs strenuous work while standing, lying or sitting. Frequently carries items weighing in excess of 40 pounds. Required to push, pull, turn and position parts, equipment assemblies, and tools. Lifts and moves heavier items with the assistance of other workers and with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside, frequently in cramped and awkward positions. Shop area is frequently inadequately heated. Works in dirty, greasy, and noisy atmosphere and possibility exists for injury from dropped units and parts, slipping tools, slipping from work positions. Inside work is usually performed on concrete floors and involves frequent exposure to exhaust fumes.
