Duties
Ensure needed plans, material and tools are available.,Operate a tractor trailer with a gross vehicle weight of more than 26,000 pounds to transport heavy mobile equipment.,Use Automated Supply/Maintenance Management Systems such as: Global Combat Support Systems (GCSS).,Assist in the training of assigned personnel in maintenance and repair.,Perform operational inspection and ensure vehicles and equipment are properly serviced.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer Leader without more than normal supervision. 1) Ensure duties are performed using proper safety practices and equipment; and 2) Perform Field Level Maintenance and repairs on heavy duty mobile equipment and vehicles such as road graders, conveyors, bulldozers, power shovels, heavy duty compressors, large generators, tractors, large trucks, tanks, tracked combat vehicles, cranes and accessory equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading) Ability to Lead or Supervise Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc. Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Troubleshooting Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort: May be required to work in tiring or uncomfortable positions for long periods. Work frequently requires climbing on top of equipment or crawling under equipment to work on the various components. Incumbent will frequently have to bend, reach, stretch, and crouch. Work is strenuous, often requiring the lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds. Incumbent will also push, pull, and turn heavy parts and equipment. Moves heavier items with assistance of other workers. Working Conditions: Works inside and outside. The incumbent is exposed to drafts, dirt, grease and vehicle fumes. Incumbent is exposed to some inclement weather such as rain, heat, snow, cold, and freezing temperatures; and may be required to work in muddy and wet or icy areas when outdoors. Subject to burns, scrapes, cuts, bruises, shocks and strain.
