About the role
Description
Major Responsibilities:

- Inspect parts from welding/ press / laser stations on the production floor, recording defects, making key decisions to pass/stop production, and building rapport with operators
- Operate all the measurements according to the company’s quality system
- Prepare destructive weld samples for inspection using:
-
- power tools and sectioning equipment,
- mounting press to epoxy the sample in resin
- grinding and polishing equipment to clean the metal surface
- etchants to highlight the weld fusion on the samples
- Process Adjustments, routine inspections, and quality tests
- Inspect all incoming materials from suppliers for use in welding assembly and make reports into the quality system
- Monitor and maintain instruments including instrument recall, instrument calibration, monitor and maintain process control testing, coordinate measuring machine (CMM) effectiveness, mechanical testing, destructive weld testing, and laboratory consumables.
- Assist in root cause corrective action, containment, defective production, and maintenance support activities in accordance with business and internal regulations
- Participate in various levels of internal and external audits
- Make continuous improvement efforts through Kaizen work philosophy
Requirements
- Education – High School diploma or higher, along with experience working as a Quality Technician for at least 1 year.
- Previous experience in a production environment that demonstrates the ability to learn multiple tasks
- Must have knowledge CMM programming, practical hands-on testing, and Metrology.
- Excellent record of attendance and Flexibility for change of shift when needed (willing to work overtime as needed)
- Experience performing visual inspections, mechanical measurements, and calibration verifications (micrometers, calipers, etc.)
- Ability to or willing to learn usage of power tools (angle grinder, drill, etc.)
- Operate all the measurements according to the Control Plan (CMM machine)
- Desired - 2+ years’ experience in Quality Assurance or Control. Practical knowledge of metal stamping, metal working, destructive metal testing, welding, etc. Experience in hot stamp forming is preferred.
Summary
This role is a direct report to the on-site Quality Manager. Quality technicians inspect the standards of products presented to the highest nobility and will refer to their supervisor with any outstanding inquiries to improve workflow. This cross-functional role performs 100% in-process inspections using equipment or appropriate tools for destructive weld testing to ensure that parts meet customer requirements and production issues are identified.
