Summary
O'Leary Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a full-time Middle School Math Teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop a love for mathematics while fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This position offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, engaging with students in grades 6-8 and contributing to their academic and personal growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state and national math standards.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, tests, and projects, providing timely feedback and support.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff to discuss student progress and address any concerns.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with educational trends.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary projects and curriculum enhancements.
- Supervise and support students during non-instructional times, such as lunch and recess.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation.
- Uphold school policies and procedures while promoting a culture of respect and responsibility among students.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
- Valid state teaching certification in Mathematics or elementary certification.
- Experience teaching math at the middle school level is preferred.
- Strong understanding of middle school math curriculum and instructional best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and software to enhance learning experiences.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners in a classroom setting.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
