Job Summary
South Hills Middle School is seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to teach 8th Grade English Language Arts. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop critical thinking skills, enhance their writing abilities, and foster a love for reading. This full-time position requires a commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that supports the diverse needs of all learners.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes literacy and language skills.
- Create lesson plans that are engaging, interactive, and tailored to meet the varying needs of students.
- Assess student progress through a variety of methods, including tests, projects, and presentations, and provide constructive feedback.
- Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect for diverse perspectives.
- Integrate technology and multimedia resources into the curriculum to enhance learning experiences.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and trends in English Language Arts.
- Collaborate with fellow educators, staff, and administration to support school initiatives and enhance student learning.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in English Language Arts for middle school.
- Proven experience teaching English Language Arts at the middle school level is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of middle school curriculum and instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance student learning.
- Commitment to fostering a growth mindset and encouraging student engagement.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community.
