Description
The Operations Manager - Planning will play a critical leadership role in overseeing day-to-day operations of our local fleet and planners. This position is responsible for ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective fleet utilization while leading and developing planners to optimize scheduling, routing, and customer service delivery.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor the planners to create efficient schedules and routing plans that meet customer needs and maximize fleet productivity.
- Partner with customer service and sales teams to align planning with service commitments.
- Implement best practices in fleet management, planning, and dispatch operations.
- Manage dispatch to pick up and deliver loads to customers and vendors on time
- Track freight numbers to ensure all trucks are moving and accounted for
- Ensure accurate information is in the system by the team frequently monitoring PTAs (projected time of availability) and ETAs (estimated time of arrival)
- Coordinate with TFL’s maintenance department to schedule repairs and services as needed
- Analyze operational data to identify opportunities for efficiency, cost reduction, and service improvement.

- Handles discipline and termination of employees as necessary
- Support strategies that improve driver retention

Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of the trucking industry, and commercial motor vehicle operations
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and inspire teams
- Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft word, excel, etc.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Must be a self-starter and have a positive, “can-do” attitude
- Travel to other terminals as needed
- Proven experience in planning commercial motor vehicles
