Senior Backend Engineer

An ambitious Financial Technology firm is looking for a skilled and driven Senior Backend Engineer to join its fully remote, UK-based team. This role is for an engineering expert passionate about the backend who also enjoys working across the full stack when necessary. The ideal candidate is curious, collaborative, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and dedicated to building secure, high-quality production systems that address real customer needs. Key Responsibilities Collaborate closely with product managers and other engineers to design and implement intelligent technical solutions. Contribute to sound engineering practices through code reviews and knowledge sharing. Build and maintain production software systems, primarily focusing on the backend. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that occasionally impact customers. Be adaptable, responding quickly to changing business demands, and participating in an on-call rotation to support production systems. Who We're Looking For Proven experience building and maintaining production software systems. TypeScript - Extensive experience with TypeScript (with Node/Express) Python Extensive production experience working with SQL databases. Comfort working in a dynamic, sometimes ambiguous environment (e.g., a startup or similar setting). A strong focus on product and customer problems. Familiarity with modern DevOps practices, including Infrastructure as Code, build pipelines, and CI/CD.
