General Shipping Worker

DESCRIPTION:

This position is responsible for entry-level non-skilled labor, while conforming to company standards for safety, attendance, and personal conduct. This job is a fast-paced repetitive position that requires you to work in a cold and damp environment for up to 10 hours a day 6 days a week. 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Applicants will be considered for any general laborer role in Shipping. Applicants that meet the minimum requirements for consideration may be contacted for an interview.

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualified applicants will have a minimum of 6 months of continuous work experience in the previous year. Work history must represent gainful employment, and must be verifiable. We prefer previous experience in shipping/receiving, driving forklifts or other power industrial equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively for up to 10 hours a day.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move about the facility.  The employee is required to sit; use hands to finger; handle; or feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; speak; hear taste and smell. 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to climb ladders and platforms, and enter confined spaces and wear all safety equipment. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds or more.

• Regularly exposed to cold/hot and/or humid conditions, climate extremes are found in all areas of the plant
• Frequently works near machinery with moving parts and vibration
• Regularly exposed to strong odors and the sight of blood
• Regular Exposure to cleaning and sanitation chemicals, hazardous material and waste as well as fumes or airborne particles
• Risk of electrical shock and vibration
• Noise level in the work environment is moderate but can be loud when in the production area
