The Transport Incharge is responsible for managing and supervising the entire transportation system of the school. The role includes ensuring safe, timely, and efficient transport operations, vehicle maintenance, route planning, driver supervision, and compliance with transport safety regulations.
Transport Operations
- Manage daily transportation activities for students and staff.
- Prepare and monitor bus routes and schedules.
- Ensure timely arrival and departure of school buses.
- Coordinate transport arrangements for school events, trips, and activities.
Vehicle Maintenance
- Monitor maintenance and servicing of all vehicles.
- Maintain records of fuel consumption, repairs, insurance, permits, and fitness certificates.
- Ensure all buses are clean, safe, and roadworthy.
Driver & Staff Management
- Supervise drivers, cleaners, and transport support staff.
- Verify driver licenses and statutory compliance.
- Conduct regular training on safety and discipline.
- Monitor staff attendance and duty allocation.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to traffic rules and school transport safety norms.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of buses.
- Handle emergency situations and accident reporting.
- Maintain first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and GPS systems in buses.
Parent & Student Coordination
- Address transport-related complaints and concerns from parents.
- Coordinate with school administration regarding route changes or transport issues.
- Ensure student safety during boarding and drop-off.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain transport records and reports.
- Prepare monthly transport expense and maintenance reports.
- Track vehicle documents such as insurance, permits, pollution certificates, and tax renewals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Administration or related field.
- Experience in transport management, preferably in schools or institutions.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and transport regulations.
