Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Trainee Engineer – Hardware role based in Bengaluru. The Trainee Engineer – Hardware will assist in designing, testing, and debugging electronic circuits and hardware modules for IoT devices and gateways. The role includes supporting hardware documentation, assembling and testing prototypes, coordinating with the engineering team to integrate hardware with firmware and software, and conducting basic performance and reliability checks. The trainee will also help in troubleshooting hardware issues in lab and field conditions and contribute to continuous improvement of existing hardware designs. Daily tasks involve close collaboration with senior engineers, adherence to hardware development processes, and maintaining clear records of tests, results, and design changes.
Key Responsibilities
Perform manual soldering and de-soldering of electronic components on PCB
assemblies using soldering stations and rework tools.
Carry out rework and replacement of through-hole and SMD components with accuracy
and minimal damage to PCB tracks or pads.
Debug and troubleshoot PCB boards using schematics, BOMs, and engineering
guidance to identify component-level faults.
Conduct visual inspection of assembled PCBs to verify solder joint quality, polarity,
component alignment, and workmanship standards.
Support ATE (Automated Test Equipment) testing activities by assisting in setup,
loading/unloading boards, and reporting test observations.
Perform continuity checks, basic electrical verification, and functional testing using
multimeters and other basic instruments.
Ensure packing of finished products and PCB assemblies according to defined work
instructions, ESD guidelines, and customer requirements.
Maintain proper documentation of rework activities, defects, testing status, and
production records.
Follow ESD safety practices, IPC standards, and quality procedures during assembly
and handling of electronic products.
Coordinate with production, quality, and engineering teams for issue resolution and
process improvement.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of soldering stations, tools, and work areas.
Required Skills & Knowledge
Basic knowledge of electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, ICs, diodes,
transistors, connectors, etc.
Understanding of PCB layouts, schematics, and electronic assembly processes.
Familiarity with soldering tools, hot air rework stations, magnifiers, and testing
equipment.
Basic computer knowledge for reporting, documentation, and test data entry.
Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
Ability to identify soldering defects and perform quality rework activities.
Educational Qualification
ITI / Diploma / BE in Electronics, Electrical, ECE, or related field preferred.
