Role Purpose Statement This position is responsible for end-to-end contract lifecycle management for agricultural commodities including timely and accurate entry, validation, execution, and settlement of trade contracts. The role requires expertise in GAFTA/ FOSFA contract rules, and coordination with commercial, operations, logistics, and finance teams to ensure profitable and compliant execution of physical commodity trades. This is an individual contributor role with potential to lead contract administration improvements and process excellence initiatives.
Main Accountabilities
• Ensure accurate and timely entry of purchase and sales contracts into systems with correct pricing formulas, delivery terms, and special clauses
• Manage contract lifecycle including validation, amendments, contract drag monitoring, FIFO compliance, and settlement reconciliations
• Coordinate end-to-end shipment execution: contractual notices, loading/discharge coordination, document issuance (invoices, B/L, certificates), LC presentation, and laytime settlements
• Maintain pricing data, monitor contract audit reports, resolve discrepancies, and ensure compliance with margin targets and pricing policies
• Prepare long-form contracts based on business confirmations ensuring compliance with GAFTA, FOSFA and internal legal/fiscal requirements
• Manage quality compliance through coordination with surveyors, inspection agencies, and handle quality/quantity claims resolution
• Identify contract exposure risks (credit, pricing, operational) and escalate appropriately; manage contractual disputes and force majeure situations • Effective communication with traders, suppliers, customers, shipping agents, banks, and internal stakeholders across different time zones
• Produce and retain documentation in accordance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and audit standards
Skills :
• 1-3 years of relevant experience in commodity contract management, trade operations, or trade execution within physical commodity trading
• Direct hands-on experience managing agricultural commodity contracts (grains, oilseeds, oils) for international bulk/container shipments
Domain knowledge of commodity contract administration and trade lifecycle processes for agricultural commodities (grains)
Knowledge of GAFTA, FOSFA, contract rules and arbitration procedures 3. Thorough understanding of Incoterms 2020 (FOB, CFR, CIF, etc.), trade finance (LC, documentary collections), and shipping documentation 4. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
