Role Description The Tool & Die Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in the Pune/Pimpri-Chinchwad area. This role involves designing, manufacturing, maintaining, and repairing tools, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures used in precision engineering and production environments. The specialist will interpret technical drawings, perform machining operations (including CNC and conventional machining), and ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards are met. Daily responsibilities include troubleshooting tooling issues on the shop floor, collaborating with engineering and production teams to optimize tool performance, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives. The role also includes documenting work, supporting new tooling development projects, and adhering to safety and quality procedures.
Qualifications
- Strong machining skills, including experience with CNC machines, conventional machines, tooling setup, and precision measurement instruments.
- Ability to troubleshoot tooling, die, and mold issues, diagnose root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams, reporting issues, and providing clear technical feedback.
- Experience in training operators or junior team members on tool handling, maintenance practices, and safe work procedures.
- Basic project management skills to plan, prioritize, and track tooling projects, ensuring timely completion and quality standards.
- Diploma or degree in Tool & Die Making, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on experience in tool and die manufacturing, injection molds, jigs and fixtures, and automotive or industrial tooling environments.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software, engineering drawings, GD&T, and shop safety standards is highly beneficial.
