About the role
Toggl is looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to join our Hire team. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing and implementing the core systems that power our recruiting software. You'll work closely with our product and engineering teams to build features that help our customers find and hire top talent.
We're looking for someone who has a strong background in backend development, especially in technologies like Ruby on Rails, Elixir, and Golang. You should be comfortable working on complex systems and have experience scaling and optimizing web applications.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing new features and functionality for our recruiting platform
- Scaling and optimizing our backend systems to handle increasing traffic and data
- Collaborating with our front-end team to ensure a seamless user experience
- Participating in code reviews and mentoring junior engineers
- Identifying and addressing technical debt and performance bottlenecks
- Continuously improving our development processes and tooling
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience building and scaling web applications
- Proficiency in Ruby on Rails, Elixir, or Golang
- Strong understanding of database design and optimization
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and deployment automation
- Familiarity with test-driven development and continuous integration/deployment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Passion for building high-quality software and a commitment to continuous improvement
