Job Description: Dental Assistant
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Dental Assistant to provide exceptional support to our dentists and dental hygienists in a dental practice or clinic. This role is integral to ensuring the smooth operation of dental procedures and delivering high-quality patient care. The Dental Clinical Assistant will perform a variety of clinical and administrative duties, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of our practice.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including filling cavities, taking X-rays, and performing cleanings, ensuring patient comfort and procedural efficiency.
- Prepare dental instruments, equipment, and materials for use during procedures, adhering to strict hygiene and safety protocols.
- Set up dental trays with the necessary instruments and materials for each procedure, ensuring readiness and organization.
- Greet and prepare patients for treatment, explaining procedures to them, and answering any questions they may have, fostering a welcoming and reassuring environment.
- Take patient histories and update medical records accurately, maintaining comprehensive and up-to-date patient information.
- Prepare and maintain dental equipment and treatment rooms, ensuring a clean and functional workspace.
- May take dental X-rays, ensuring high-quality imaging.
- Provide post-operative instructions to patients after dental procedures, ensuring they understand and comply with care recommendations.
- Order and maintain dental supplies and equipment inventory, ensuring availability and proper stock levels.
- May schedule appointments and maintain patient records, optimizing patient flow and clinic operations.
- Provide administrative support, such as answering phones, filing paperwork, and managing patient inquiries, contributing to the overall efficiency of the practice.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Certification in dental assisting field is required.
- X-Ray certification is required.
- Proven experience working in a dental office, demonstrating familiarity with dental procedures and patient care.
- Sound knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and materials.
- Proficiency in dental practice management software, ensuring efficient data entry and record management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, facilitating clear and professional interactions with patients and staff.
