Why This Role Exists
The Director of Business Development is responsible for driving new client acquisition and expanding RapidStaff’s presence within the healthcare industry, with a focus on unionized hospitals and health systems. This role leads early-stage market engagement by identifying, developing, and securing relationships with key decision-makers. The position plays a critical role in building a strong pipeline of opportunities aligned with strategic growth goals. Success in this role is driven by relationship-building, market insight, and the ability to open doors for long-term partnerships.
Works Closely With
Client Relations, Operations, and Executive Leadership teams to align market strategy, outreach efforts, and client engagement activities. This role partners directly with RapidStaff leadership to transition early-stage opportunities into formal presentations and client solutions. Strong collaboration across internal stakeholders ensures alignment between market intelligence, client needs, and service delivery capabilities.
What You'll Do
- Identify and target unionized hospitals and health systems by conducting market research, leveraging industry intelligence, and building a pipeline of qualified opportunities aligned with growth goals.
- Establish and develop relationships with executive-level stakeholders including Chief Nursing Officers, Vice Presidents of Operations, and Labor Relations leaders.
- Develop and execute outreach strategies to engage prospective clients, including direct outreach, networking, and leveraging industry connections.
- Secure meetings and introductions for RapidStaff leadership, ensuring smooth transition from initial engagement to presentations, proposals, and contract discussions.
- Gather and share insights on market trends, competitor activity, and client needs to inform business strategy and positioning.
- Track outreach activity, pipeline progress, and client interactions within CRM systems to ensure visibility and accountability.
- Partner with internal teams to align client strategy, messaging, and solution development.
- Represent RapidStaff at conferences, events, and networking opportunities to build brand presence and generate leads.

Great Things to Have
- Experience working with unionized healthcare environments
- Existing network within hospital systems or healthcare leadership
- Experience in contingency staffing, strike staffing, or workforce solutions
What We Look For
- 5–7+ years of experience in healthcare staffing, workforce solutions, or healthcare business development
- Strong understanding of hospital operations and labor environments
- Demonstrated experience engaging with executive-level healthcare stakeholders
- Proven ability to build relationships and generate new business opportunities
- Strong communication skills and executive presence
- Ability to operate independently in a field-based, performance-driven environment
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel
- Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced and complex environment and maintain a sense of urgency
- Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with cross-functional coworkers
- Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, and experience
