Job Description:
Title Resources Guaranty Company (TRG), is seeking to hire the position of Underwriting Counsel to serve the Company’s customers in multiple states, including MO, KS and NE.
The responsibilities of the position include providing legal counsel, answers and guidance to customers and internal departments on real estate closings and title insurance matters and determine the Company's willingness and ability to insure within the parameters of those transactions. In addition, training and education are a cornerstone of the services TRG provides to our customers. The ability to create and deliver relevant educational topics at live seminars and webinars is also a necessary skill. The position also requires experience in business development and the ability to provide support in audits of TRG’s agents. Occasional travel is required. The ability to provide underwriting support in additional jurisdictions is a plus.
Qualifications:
- A Juris Doctorate Degree from an ABA approved law school.
- A licensed attorney in good standing in at least one state.
- 3-10 years of real estate experience.
- Must have knowledge of title insurance rates and rules for all states of responsibility and remain current of all current developments in rules and regulations in the assigned states.
- Must have knowledge of title insurance underwriting standards for each state assigned.
- Must have the ability to discuss and review proposed requests for coverage to determine potential risks; to suggest and provide adequate language in title commitments, policies and endorsements that will protect the Company's interests while assisting the Company’s agents.
- Must be able to issue underwriting guidelines for all assigned states.
- The ability to prepare and deliver relevant presentations to the Company’s customers.
- The ability to develop new business leads and sign new customers.
