Building Mechanical Engineering Intern PROJECT DESCRIPTION Thornton Tomasetti is currently seeking a Building Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team. As a Building Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will assist with the design and analysis of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other building systems for a variety of project types, including commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of building mechanical engineering and to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects. RESPONSIBILITIES - Assist with the development of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system designs - Perform calculations and analysis to size and select mechanical equipment - Participate in the preparation of drawings, specifications, and other technical documents - Attend client meetings and site visits to gather information and coordinate with other disciplines - Collaborate with the project team to ensure the mechanical design meets project requirements and codes/standards - Gain exposure to project management tasks, such as tracking project schedules and budgets REQUIREMENTS - Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field - Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Ability to work effectively in a team environment - Good communication and interpersonal skills - Interest in building systems design and construction - Eligibility to work in the United States
