Job Summary
SMEC Automation is seeking experienced Third or Fourth Offshore Engineers to join our growing offshore operations team based in Mumbai or Kochi. The ideal candidate will have hands-on offshore experience and a strong engineering background, with preference given to candidates possessing Main Engine Pneumatic System experience.
The role offers the opportunity to work on challenging offshore projects involving inspection, maintenance, commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical support of marine and offshore equipment. Candidates who demonstrate strong technical capabilities, professionalism, and alignment with the company's operations may have opportunities to progress into shore-based engineering and project support roles as they grow within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Offshore Operations
- Perform inspection, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of offshore mechanical, pneumatic, and auxiliary systems.
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities onboard offshore installations, support vessels, and marine assets.
- Diagnose equipment faults and carry out effective technical solutions while minimizing downtime.
- Support planned shutdowns, commissioning projects, and offshore service campaigns.
Main Engine & Pneumatic Systems
- Maintain and troubleshoot main engine pneumatic control systems and associated equipment.
- Inspect, service, and repair air compressors, pneumatic valves, actuators, air starting systems, and related machinery.
- Assist in maintaining reliable operation of engine room mechanical systems.
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
Technical Support
- Read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, P&IDs, and engineering documentation.
- Prepare service reports, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Coordinate with clients, offshore personnel, OEM representatives, and internal engineering teams.
- Ensure all assigned work is completed in accordance with project schedules and company quality standards.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow company HSE policies and client safety procedures at all times.
- Comply with offshore Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems and risk assessment requirements.
- Participate in toolbox talks, emergency drills, and safety meetings.
- Maintain compliance with applicable offshore and maritime regulations.
Qualifications
- Certificate of Competency as Third Engineer or Fourth Engineer.
- 2 - 4 Years of experience in the Marine Industry
- Previous offshore experience is mandatory.
- Experience working on offshore support vessels, drilling rigs, FPSOs, or similar offshore facilities is preferred.
- Main Engine Pneumatic System experience will be considered a strong advantage.
- Valid Passport with willingness to travel for offshore assignments.
- Valid offshore safety certifications will be an added advantage.
