Overview: We are seeking a dependable and hands-on individual to join our team as a Crate & Skid Builder for a reputable manufacturing company in Winona, MN. In this role, you will build and assemble custom crates, skids, and bracing to ensure products are safely prepared for shipment and transportation. This position is ideal for someone with carpentry, woodworking, or construction experience who enjoys working with tools and creating quality work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities include cutting and assembling wood materials, operating forklifts, labeling shipments, maintaining crating inventory, and following safety and quality standards. Candidates should be comfortable using hand and power tools, reading work instructions, lifting up to 50 pounds, and standing for extended periods. This is a full-time position offering steady 8-hour shifts with weekends off.
Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Assemble skids and crates used for shipping, moving, and storing product.
• Plans and builds/assembles the most effective crating method for new or custom products.
• Builds and prepares bracing and other support needed for safe transportation via transport truck.
• Operate a forklift to load trucks and/or move packaged products to finished goods in preparation for shipment
• Labels crates and skids with necessary shipping and identification information.
• Manages and maintains lumber and crating materials inventory and track lumber per international shipping standards.
• Cut wood into proper lengths and build pallets based on orders placed.
• Use of various tools such as a hammer, tape measure, saws and nail gun.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

• Ability to demonstrate mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply and divide
• Previous experience in carpentry or wood working is preferred
• Able to read and follow work instructions, quality and safety protocols
• Dependable and independent but also able to work well within a team
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for 8 hours per day
Education and/or Experience:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Manufacturing experience a plus
Must be highly organized and be able to complete tasks in a fast pace work environment.
