We are seeking a practical, hands-on Thermal Engineer with strong heat-transfer fundamentals and sound engineering judgment. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of convection, heat exchangers, vapor-compression systems, and micro-fin plate-based heat exchangers—and be able to turn concepts into reliable test setups and product improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and optimize thermal systems and heat exchangers.
Perform thermal analysis involving convection, conduction, phase change, heat-transfer performance, and pressure drop.
Work on vapor-compression refrigeration and heat-pump systems, including compressors, evaporators, condensers, expansion devices, and refrigerant flow paths.
Design and improve compact heat exchangers, with emphasis on micro-fin and plate-based heat exchangers.
Design practical test rigs for component and system-level testing, including instrumentation selection, piping/layout, controls, safety measures, and test procedures.
Set up, conduct, and analyze thermal-performance tests; identify issues and recommend design improvements.
Use engineering judgment and hands-on problem-solving to troubleshoot unexpected test results and product-performance issues.
Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, and product teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and testable.
Prepare clear test reports, design calculations, specifications, and validation documentation.
Support prototype builds, supplier discussions, and design reviews.
Required Qualifications
Undergrad/ Master’s/ PhD degree in the related field.
Strong understanding of heat transfer, especially forced and natural convection.
Solid knowledge of heat-exchanger design and performance, including compact, plate-based, and micro-fin heat exchangers.
Good understanding of vapor-compression refrigeration cycles and their key components.
Ability to design and build thermal test rigs, including selection of sensors, flow meters, pressure instruments, data acquisition, piping, insulation, and safety provisions.
Practical understanding of thermal measurements, uncertainty, repeatability, and test-data interpretation.
Strong common sense, ownership, and hands-on engineering judgment.
Ability to independently diagnose problems, make sensible trade-offs, and move work forward with incomplete information.
Clear communication and technical-documentation skills.
