Job details:
XDLINX Space Labs is seeking aThermal Design Engineer design, analysis, and validation of spacecraft thermal control systems for our next-generation satellite platforms. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in thermal engineering principles, hands-on experience with spacecraft hardware, and the ability to drive innovative solutions that ensure mission success in challenging space environments.
As such, we have an intense culture of curiosity, hunger, and results. If you want a typical 9-5 job, this is not the place for you
If you’re passionate about building high-performance space systems and leading exceptional engineering teams, we’d love to connect. 🌌
You do not need to meet 100% of the preferred qualifications to be considered. We encourage anyone who meets the basic qualifications and is interested in the role to apply – we are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated people to join our team, and want the opportunity to talk to you!
#KeyResponsibilities
Contribute to thermal design and analysis of spacecraft, subsystems, and payloads across mission phases (concept to testing).
Develop and update Thermal Mathematical Models (TMMs) using tools such as Thermal Desktop, ESATAN-TMS, or SINDA/FLUINT.
Support implementation of thermal control solutions (MLI, coatings, heaters, radiators, heat pipes).
Assist in thermal balance and thermal vacuum (TVAC) test planning, execution, and model correlation.
Work closely with systems, mechanical, avionics, and power teams to ensure thermal design integration.
Perform thermal analysis for different mission environments
Support trade-off studies considering thermal performance, mass, and power constraints.
Document analysis results and participate in design reviews.
#RequiredQualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Sciences, or related field.
3–5 years of experience in spacecraft/satellite thermal analysis or related domain.
Hands-on experience with at least one thermal analysis tool (Thermal Desktop, ESATAN, SINDA/FLUINT).
Good understanding of heat transfer in space (conduction, radiation, basic thermal control methods).
Exposure to thermal testing (TVAC or thermal balance) is a plus.
Basic knowledge of subsystem thermal requirements (avionics, batteries, payloads).
#PreferredSkills
Experience with small satellites (CubeSats / MicroSats).
Familiarity with ECSS / NASA / ISRO thermal standards.
Exposure to scripting (Python/MATLAB) for analysis automation.
Understanding of thermal coatings, MLI, and passive thermal design.
Good communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
