<div> </div><div><strong>Job Summary</strong></div><div>We are seeking an <strong>Adjunct Instructor</strong> to join our team! As an Adjunct Instructor, you will be facilitating a classroom, following the agreed-upon class schedule, participating in student discussion boards, and responding to student questions or issues in a timely manner. You will also be grading classwork and providing feedback to help students understand their course materials, address upcoming concerns for students, and ensure each student has the tools they need to succeed. The ideal candidate has a background in education or teaching, has strong communication skills, and can cultivate a positive learning atmosphere. </div><div><br></div><div>
<strong>Primary Responsibilities<br></strong><br>
</div><div>• Develop and maintain the ENG-201 Children's Literature course syllabus aligned with CID</div><div>ENGL 145 descriptor and Cal-GETC Area 3B</div><div>• Cover course content including: history and development of children's literature, genres</div><div>(picture books, chapter books, fantasy, realistic fiction, poetry, nonfiction), literary</div><div>analysis of children's texts, cultural representation in children's literature, evaluation</div><div>criteria for selecting children's books, and the role of literature in child development</div><div>• Use Short & Cueto's Essentials of Children's Literature (10th ed.) as the primary</div><div>textbook</div><div>• Document and assess Student Learning Outcomes per ACCJC Standard II.A.4</div><div>• Connect literary analysis to ECE contexts where appropriate while maintaining the</div><div>course as a Humanities (not pedagogy) offering</div><div>• Teach 5-week accelerated terms multiple times per academic year</div><div>Standard Faculty Responsibilities (All Theoria Instructors)</div><div>• Maintain Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI) per IPM 4.8 and 34 CFR §600.2</div><div>• Submit weekly RSI Self-Log per institutional procedure</div><div>• Document Student Learning Outcomes assessment per IPM and Curriculum Committee</div><div>schedule</div><div>• Provide timely grading and feedback (responses to student communications within 48</div><div>hours)</div><div>• Participate in faculty development and Curriculum Committee processes as assigned</div><div>• Comply with all institutional policies (IPM, FERPA, Title IX, etc.)<br><br>
</div><div><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong></div><div>
<em>Per California Title 5 §53410 and ACCJC Standard III.A:</em><br><br>
</div><div>• Master's degree in English, English Literature, Comparative Literature, Children's</div><div>Literature, Library and Information Science (with Children's Services concentration), or</div><div>Humanities, OR</div><div>• Master's degree in Education with significant graduate coursework (≥18 grad units) in</div><div>literary study, OR</div><div>• Equivalent qualifications as approved through TTC's faculty equivalency process</div><div>Preferred Qualifications</div><div>• PhD in English, Comparative Literature, or Children's Literature</div><div>• Teaching experience in literature courses (children's, young adult, or general)</div><div>• Familiarity with C-ID descriptor ENGL 145 (Children's Literature)</div><div>• Background in or connection to early childhood education contexts (advantageous but</div><div>not required)</div><div>• Online teaching experience (asynchronous, Adobe Connect, or LMS-based)</div><div>• Scholarly publications or community engagement in children's literary studies</div>
