Therapeutic Afterschool Aide
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (copy required at date of hire)
- One year experience in a residential outpatient program serving troubled youth
- Yearly Physical (required within one month of date of hire)
- Valid NYS Drivers License (copy required upon at date of hire)
- Ability to work with a diverse population presenting a variety of cultural, socioeconomic, developmental and sexual identities. Must have the ability and willingness to establish and foster healthy and supportive relationships that acknowledge individual identities and encourage personal growth.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- AAS Degree in related field

§ NYS Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR)
§ Multi-State Sex Offender Registry (SOR)
§ NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) fingerprinting
§ NYS Justice Center Staff Exclusion List (SEL)
§ NYS OMIG Medicaid Exclusion List
§ Out-of-state child abuse register inquiry of any state in which the person resided within the last five years (if applicable)
§ NYS License Event Notification Service (LENS)
§ Office of Inspector General (OIG)
- Must successfully complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)
SALARY:
$23-$25/hour
HOURS:
- Monday-Thursday 1:00pm-9:00pm
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible to co-facilitate treatment groups and develop thematic group curriculum as needed.
- Responsible for developing, organizing, and implementing program structure, expectations, policies, and protocols.
- Responsible for supervising clients in the day to day routines and structure of the program.
- Responsible for developing and supervising appropriate recreational and educational programs for clients.
- Responsible for providing clients with individual tutorial assistance during a structured study hour.
- Responsible for transporting clients to and from the program site on The William George Agency campus.
- Responsible for providing input into treatment team meetings for the planning of each client’s treatment goals and objectives.
- Responsible for helping implement each client’s individual treatment plan.
- Responsible for serving as a positive role model for clients by engaging in activities productively.
- Responsible for ensuring that clients adhere to all behavioral expectations, rules, and standards of conduct established for the program.
- Responsible for behavior management of clients and crisis intervention where appropriate including physical restraint and life space interview.
- Responsible to adhere to all rules, regulations, policies, and philosophy of The William George Agency and The New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

The William George Agency for Children’s Services is located on a 650-acre campus nine miles northeast of Ithaca, in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State. It is a private not-for-profit residential treatment center licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) that serves both male and female youth between the ages of 12 and 21, and their families, who present with significant mental health issues, behavioral difficulties, and substance abuse issues.
