Development Coordinator
Remote | Full-Time | Reports to Chief Development Officer
Position Overview
The Society for Classical Learning is seeking a highly capable, proactive, and relational Development Coordinator to provide comprehensive administrative, operational, and fundraising support to the Chief Development Officer (CDO).
This role is ideal for someone who is exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and energized by supporting strategic initiatives behind the scenes while also engaging thoughtfully with donors, partners, and stakeholders. The Development Coordinator will play a vital role in advancing SCL’s fundraising efforts through donor stewardship, communications, database management, event coordination, and operational support.

Key Responsibilities
Executive & Administrative Support
- Provide high-level administrative support to executives within the Development Department, including calendar management, scheduling, travel coordination, and meeting preparation.
- Draft, edit, and manage professional correspondence, reports, presentations, and donor communications.
- Manage incoming inquiries and communications with discretion, professionalism, and tact.
- Coordinate special projects and cross-functional initiatives while tracking deadlines and deliverables.
- Serve as the primary coordinator for development communications in partnership with the Communications and Marketing team.
Fundraising Operations & Donor Relations
- Support SCL’s fundraising initiatives by managing donor database (CRM) processes, including gift entry, finance coordination, donor interaction tracking, reporting, and data integrity.
- Assist in implementing fundraising campaigns, appeals, and donor stewardship strategies.
- Coordinate donor communications, acknowledgments, and engagement touchpoints to ensure timely and meaningful follow-up.
- Help prepare donor proposals, reports, and presentation materials for foundations, partners, and supporters.
- Support the planning and execution of donor events and development-related gatherings.
- Conduct donor research and assist in identifying prospective supporters under the direction of the CDO.
- Support implementation of PAC and annual donor stewardship plans.
- Coordinate volunteer involvement in fundraising and development initiatives as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of SCL’s mission and growth.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven ability to manage high levels of coordination with both internal teams and external partners.
- Experience in development coordination, executive assistance, fundraising support, or a similar administrative role—preferably within a nonprofit, ministry, or education setting.
- Strong understanding of systems and logic-based processes with the ability to learn and implement CRM/database workflows effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high standard of professionalism, diplomacy, and attention to detail.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Self-motivated and disciplined with the ability to work successfully in a remote environment while remaining teachable and growth-oriented.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CRM and email marketing platforms preferred.
- Event planning experience, particularly in donor-related or nonprofit settings, is a plus.
- High emotional intelligence and the ability to engage graciously and confidently with senior leaders, donors, and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated alignment with the Christian mission, values, and vision of SCL.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
