NFL Summer Internship Program participants have the opportunity to contribute to the organization's success while receiving an unmatched, behind-the-scenes learning experience. Though interns work within specific departments, they can explore all aspects of the business of professional football through challenging project assignments, speaker presentations, mentoring relationships, and networking opportunities. The summer program covers a minimum of 10 weeks, from June 9 - August 15, 2025. Interns will be required to work five (5) full days (approximately 40 hours) per week. Interns will be paid an hourly rate for their work. Application Deadline: Applications must be submitted no later than Friday, December 20 at 11:59 PM EST. No exceptions will be made for those who miss the application deadline. Due to the high volume of applicants, only those selected for interviews will be contacted by early January. EDUCATION: Currently enrolled master’s or MBA student graduating Winter 2025 or Spring 2026. QUALIFICATIONS: Prior internship/work experience is preferred Required experience in Word, PowerPoint, Excel Interest in the Sports, Entertainment and/or Media industries is a plus Strong organizational skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Eagerness to learn Applicants must be legally permitted to work in the United States and international students must have all visas and employment authorizations before the start of the internship DEPARTMENTS DESCRIPTIONS: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & STRATEGIC INVESTMENTS The NFL Business Development & Strategic Investments group oversees the strategy, distribution, and licensing of NFL content across all media platforms as well as principal investment initiatives, including the NFL’s Strategic Investment Fund (32 Equity). Its core mandate is to grow the business of the National Football League by distributing content in a manner that reaches and engages both new and existing fans, increases revenue for the business, and creates long-term strategic value for the 32 member clubs. The group is also responsible for identifying and executing against investment and equity value creation opportunities that meet the NFL’s strategic criteria and are financially attractive. The group’s work includes market and competitive analysis, new and existing business development, financial modeling, due diligence, business and rights valuation, deal negotiation, go-to-market process management, ongoing partnership management and investing. The group is highly visible to executive leadership and ownership of the NFL. Responsibilities: Expected projects and responsibilities will be varied and flexible based on business needs and will include, but are not limited to: Assessing and analyzing new markets, critical media and sports trends, and competitive landscapes to develop new initiatives and identify new partnership opportunities Evaluating opportunities, including financial analyses, for 32 Equity portfolio companies as well as potential investment targets Creating qualitative and quantitative industry analysis including competitive analysis, identification of trends, and benchmarking Taking a meaningful role in all aspects of deal development and prospecting, sourcing, negotiating and closing Supporting content licensing efforts on projects and planning for the 2025 season Coordinating collaboration across departments to inform partnership renewal terms and strategic considerations, as well as cross-org strategic projects Creating presentations, memos, and other reports for the team and senior executives inside and outside the organization Monitoring and analyzing performance of existing partnerships Research project on a developing media topic, to be presented at the end of the internship Required Qualifications: Relevant work experience at a leading investment bank, private equity or venture capital firm, or consulting firm (TMT group experience preferred) CLUB BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT The NFL’s Club Business Development department (Club BD) supports the 32 clubs in delivering direct local value and best-in-class fan experiences via data-driven insights and innovation. In addition to working with the clubs, Club BD works cross-functionally to guide key strategic initiatives at a League level. Responsibilities: Support the growth and evolution of the NFL Ticket Network. Analyze ticket sales, pricing, premium seating, and sponsorship data to deliver club benchmarking reports and league reporting to develop actionable insights, best practices, and help inform club and league strategy. Support the Club Business Development team on managing communications between league and clubs, club data collection efforts, and presentation builds for market visits. Support in the development of dashboards and reporting. Document and catalog best practices in ticket sales, pricing, premium seating and suite sales, and sponsorship. Support League fan experience initiatives, including researching fan engagement best practices across sports properties, inside and outside the NFL. Support internal strategy efforts, providing recommendations and creating analyses, guides, and documentation to improve value delivered by Club BD team to Clubs. Support cross-functional coordination & planning within the League and across Clubs for key tentpole events (e.g. Pro Bowl, Super Bowl, Draft), marketing campaigns, etc. DATA & ANALYTICS The Fan Data & Analytics team spans Fan, League, Club, and Media analytics and data science initiatives. Includes development and refinement of robust enterprise-level analytics, data analyses for key strategic priorities, and data science initiatives to drive fan engagement. D&A Summer Intern responsibilities: Main project will be a data science project that could include: Development of ticketing models/algorithms using NFL database International Product recommender models Look alike models Audience segmentation development Media metrics modeling Survey NLP analysis Training Clubs on use of analytic tools Collaborating within the team and across the D&A organization FOOTBALL DATA & ANALYTICS The Football Data & Analytics Team uses data science, analytics and statistics to research the game of NFL football in order to maximize competitiveness, pace of play, officiating and health/safety. The Football Data & Analytics intern will use R or Python to analyze data related to NFL games, plays, players or officials. Responsibilities: Write code in Python and/or R. Use NFL data to create a research project analyzing rule changes, officiating, the NFL schedule, competitiveness, and other aspects of NFL game play. Support football data team’s ongoing data science workstreams. INTERNATIONAL Overview: International growth is one of the strategic priorities for the league. The 2024 season has been a pivotal year for the NFL in this regard with a broad slate of regular season games held outside of the US – 5 games in 3 stadia across 3 countries -- increased Club investment in international markets through our Global Markets Program (GMP), and continued investment in growing the game at every level, from building grassroots participation through flag football, which will be added to the sports program for the LA28 Olympic Games, to creating pathways for international players through the NFL Academy and International Player Pathway (IPP) programs. Underpinning this is the work undertaken by the NFL International team, across a variety of functional groups including Strategy, Marketing, Media, Consumer Products, Local Football Development and Sponsorship, to grow fandom, engagement, and our business internationally. Core Responsibilities: Growth & Strategy: Business Planning: Drive key analyses across commercialization streams assessing the impact, opportunities, and cross-functional dependencies of league presence in key international markets Conduct relevant market research, organize findings, and create analyses to support strategic direction/recommendations Support the creation, development, and tracking of departmental and League-wide business plans, including metric creation, measurement, tracking, and ultimate reporting of success metrics Global Markets Program: Support day-to-day management & strategy of program; Liase with Clubs to track & analyze marketing, fan engagement and commercialization activations International Marketing Support in Global Marketing integration processes, including serving as a connector between regional / local marketing teams, central International Marketing team and Global Marketing Centers of Excellence (CoE) Content Marketing: Coordination of central int’l content development, production & marketing processes, including NFL Media digital content identification and tech ops delivery coordination to int’l content leads and relevant broadcast partners. Manage broadcast integrations processes with NFL Media operations team. Assist with NFL Media on-boarding for int’l staff and agency partners. Optimize sharing and archiving of int’l content productions & localized brand marketing content. Social Marketing: Support int’l social & US domestic social content initiatives across priority platforms Database Marketing: Work closely with central Data & Analytics (D&A) team and Fan 1-1 Marketing team to support database marketing programs and initiatives in priority markets. Broadcast Marketing: Support int’l marketing & media workstreams, including: new partner on-boarding & servicing; optimize digital content sharing with priority partners; marketing communications Additional Responsibilities – Territory and Functional Team Support Support territory marketing leads / agencies in priority markets Support key International function leads where needed across: Local Football Development, Media, Communications & PR, as well as Global Sponsorship and Licensing. SPORTS BETTING The NFL’s Sports Betting department leads league-wide strategic planning and execution related to legalized sports betting (“LSB”), working collaboratively with NFL business units and other key stakeholders to accomplish the NFL’s core LSB objectives: (i) Integrity / Compliance; (ii) Brand & Reputation; (iii) Fan Engagement; and (iv) Commercial. Responsibilities: LSB Market Developments: Track / analyze key market developments (e.g., M&A, operator performance, regulatory environment) Fan Segmentation: Support analysis and implementation related to fan surveys based on betting attitudes, behaviors, and perceptions Ad Hoc Analyses: Analyze specific LSB businesses at the League or Club level (e.g., Sponsorships, gambling categories such as Lottery and iGaming) LSB Content Integration: Monitor / analyze LSB content integration across the sports industry, including executions from other professional sports leagues (e.g., pre-game shows, in-game, in-stadium, alternate broadcasts, digital media)
