POSITION PURPOSE
Provide oversight to children, parents and families who meet for supervised visitation. The primary function of the position is to ensure the safety and well-being of the children and to provide professional-level observation during the visit, documenting the interaction according to agency-developed guidelines. The specialist also provides a safe place for parents to exchange custody to allow a non-custodial parent to spend time with their children.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
Six months experience is social services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Ensures the safety and well-being of each child during visitation at JFCS.
- Ensures that the visitation sites are conducive to enhancing the visitation experience for families and children.
- Schedules visitation with families and caregivers.
- Receives each participant and visitor and makes them feel welcome. Displays effective public contact skills, cultural sensitivity and respect in all interactions.
- Completes Visit Observation Form.
- Observes and documents visitation proceedings in an objective manner and without bias, in accordance with funder guidelines.
- Should a crisis arise, intervenes appropriately. Completes and submits a critical incident report within established time frame, according to the notification process.
- Maintains the highest level of client confidentiality.
- Attends Agency meetings as requested and appropriate
- Complete other duties as assigned.
