Summary
In managing the strategic planning process, will support the Executive Team and the Sr. Director – Global Strategy in defining and creating the strategic plan, and will be responsible for regularly updating and reporting on the status of the strategic initiatives and enterprise wide KPIs.
In the role of internal strategy consultant & advisor, will help the business think strategically, connect the dots, make sense of complexity, drive innovation, set priorities, and make choices.
This role will report to, and work closely with, the Sr. Director – Global Strategy, and will collaborate regularly with various teams, international affiliate institutes, and volunteer members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Strategic Planning Process
- Support the design and implementation of the strategic plan from ideation, generating alignment and buy-in, execution, facilitation, to tracking & monitoring.
- Understand the business rationale, measures of success, risks, and interdependencies of all elements of the strategic plan.
- Comprehend how enterprise wide KPIs correlate with the successful implementation of the strategic plan and drive long-term organizational performance.
- Work with business unit leaders to periodically assess the status of the strategic initiatives. Identify when performance deviates from original expectations, understand what the drivers are, and help develop mitigation plans.
- Create and maintain accurate and trusted reporting of the strategic plan and enterprise wide KPIs. Develop visual dashboards, presentation, and reports to inform leadership, the Board of Directors.
- Help drive alignment and effectively communicate the strategic plan to the organization.
Internal strategy consulting & advisory
- Support initiatives requiring significant strategic & analytical support to frame key issues, develop hypotheses, conduct analyses, & test potential solutions prior to designing broader implementation plans.
- Synthesize complex projects, ideas and plans and communicate clearly and effectively to gain support from cross-functional leadership and teams.
- Design and conduct ad-hoc analyses using internal and external data, inc. financial modelling, market sizing, gap analysis,
- Perform secondary research to understand changes in the competitive landscape and identify emerging trends that pose risks and/or opportunities for the organization and the profession.
- Serve as subject matter expert and continually expand understanding of the business through market research, and internal and external engagement with key stakeholders.
- Masterfully run & contribute towards cross-functional working groups designed to explore and address emerging strategic challenges.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. This position will influence and lead cross-functional teams in the achievement of strategic plan goals.
Qualifications

Education And/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required, MBA strongly preferred.
- 3-5 years of project management experience with an ability to lead projects with cross functional teams working on complex, operational and strategic initiatives.
- Experience with data analytics and visualization tools, such as Tableau, PowerBI, or Smartsheets, preferred.
- Experience leading and working across teams, with practitioners, and executive leadership.
- Experience conducting competitive analysis, market sizing, market research, gap analysis, storyboarding, etc.
- Experience using strategy frameworks and developing ad-hoc frameworks.
- Proven experience as a self-starter with high energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of self-initiative
- Demonstrated experience prioritizing and balancing multiple, on-going projects with ability to meet critical deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, writes and presents effectively with staff and executive stakeholders; strong ability to adapt delivery and style to fit the audience and message; able to deliver messages that are well received and clearly understood.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Multiple language ability is an asset in any role with the IIA.
- CIA or other internal audit related certifications is an asset.
