Description
Key Responsibilities
Course Maintenance
- Assist in planning and executing daily golf course maintenance operations
- Supervise mowing, fertilization, aerification, topdressing, irrigation, and pesticide applications
- Monitor turfgrass health and identify disease, weed, or insect issues
- Maintain greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and landscaping areas
- Ensure proper course setup including cups, tee markers, signage, and practice facilities
Staff Supervision
- Train, schedule, and supervise maintenance crew members
- Assist with employee safety programs and equipment operation training
- Monitor productivity and quality standards for assigned tasks
- Help maintain positive team morale and communication
Irrigation & Equipment
- Assist with operation, troubleshooting, and repair of irrigation systems
- Monitor moisture levels and watering schedules
- Assit with care and maintance of mowers and machinerey
- Ensure proper use and care of tools, machinery, and golf course equipment
Environmental & Safety Compliance
- Follow all local, state, and federal regulations regarding chemical applications
- Maintain accurate application and maintenance records
- Promote safe work practices and proper PPE usage
- Support environmental stewardship and water conservation initiatives
Administrative Duties
- Assist with budgeting and inventory management
- Order supplies and track fertilizer, chemical, and seed usage
- Communicate course conditions and maintenance plans with management
- Help prepare for tournaments and special events
Qualifications
- Degree or certificate in turfgrass management, agronomy, horticulture, or related field preferred
- Previous golf course maintenance experience required
- Knowledge of turfgrass species, irrigation systems, and agronomic practices
- Ability to operate golf course maintenance equipment safely
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and in varying weather conditions
Preferred Certifications
- State pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain)
- CPR/First Aid certification
- GIS or turfgrass association memberships are a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work outdoors for extended periods
- Comfortable working in heat, cold, rain, and uneven terrain
