Design Lead, AI Lab

The Economist AI Lab is an innovation team that develops cutting-edge AI models and applications to enhance The Economist's journalism and products. As the Design Lead, you will be responsible for leading the design function of the Lab, crafting compelling user experiences and interfaces for our AI-powered tools and products. What you'll do: - Lead the design process end-to-end, from research and ideation to prototyping and implementation - Work closely with the AI engineering and product teams to create user-centric designs that balance technology capabilities and user needs - Develop a design system and patterns to ensure consistency and scalability across the Lab's projects - Champion a design-led culture, advocating for user-centered design principles and best practices - Mentor and grow the design team, providing guidance and support to junior designers - Collaborate with stakeholders across The Economist Group to ensure alignment and adoption of the Lab's design solutions
