Title: Sports Video Editor & Producer: YouTube + Podcasts (Part-Time, Contract)

Employment Type: Monthly Retainer (Contract Role)

Location: Remote USA, NYC Applicants Preferred

First Look:

We’re looking for a creative, detail-oriented video editor and producer who understands how to make podcast content thrive on YouTube. This is a contract role ideal for someone who is YouTube-native—experienced in editing video podcasts, creating engaging mid-length and vertical clips, and optimizing content for discoverability and growth on the platform. We’re specifically looking for candidates with a proven track record of creating YouTube content that has driven real audience growth and engagement.

Your top priority will be editing and producing two weekly sports podcasts—delivering full-length video episodes and, critically, creating mid-length YouTube clips that drive growth and discovery. These clips are core to our strategy and must hook new viewers while showcasing the strongest moments from each episode. You’ll also cut short verticals for use across additional channels.

You’ll collaborate closely with our Head of Video and Social and social strategy team to bring these shows to life. You’ll be responsible for handling uploads and packaging in YouTube Studio. As new video series and editorial concepts are developed, you may also be tapped to support editing for additional YouTube content.

Who We Are:

The Arena Group — an innovative media and technology company — is home to many of the most iconic and passionate media brands including The Street, Parade, Men’s Journal, Athlon Sports, Surfer, and Autoblog. Each month we connect over 100 million people with interests they love, enriching their experiences through like-minded communities, all while offering diverse storytelling and trusted recommendations.

What You’ll Do:

  • Edit and produce weekly podcast episodes (video + audio) with clean, consistent pacing and sharp packaging for YouTube and Spotify.
  • Create mid-length YouTube clips from each episode that drive discoverability, increase views, and serve as key growth levers for the channel.
  • Cut short vertical clips for use across platforms like Shorts and Reels.
  • Contribute creatively—help shape the tone, structure, and visual identity of podcast edits over time.
  • Use lightweight graphics and layout to enhance edits and keep pacing dynamic.
  • Upload and optimize content using platforms like YouTube Studio and podcast distribution tools.
  • Support other YouTube video projects as needed, including episodic or series-based content.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven experience editing video podcasts for YouTube, including full-length episodes and standout clip packaging.
  • Strong understanding of YouTube growth strategy—what works in titles, thumbnails, pacing, and content cuts.
  • A keen eye for narrative and visual style, especially in a sports context.
  • Ability to produce independently, offer creative direction, and elevate raw content into something compelling.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro (After Effects is a plus).
  • Organized, proactive, and comfortable managing weekly deadlines with minimal hand-holding.

Please Note: Only candidates with prior YouTube editing experience will be considered. Applicants must include a portfolio or links to edited YouTube videos, podcast episodes, or other relevant video work. Applications submitted without samples will not be reviewed.

What You Need To Know:

  • This is a contract role with an hourly rate ranging from $25 to $35 USD, depending on experience and qualifications. The role is expected to require approximately 20 hours per week, with the flexibility to scale when additional projects arise. Actual pay may vary based on factors such as location, education, and experience, as permitted by law.
  • Due to the volume of applications we receive, only applicants selected for consideration will be contacted.
