Job Duties: Licensed Practical Nurse for individuals with developmental disabilities and/or mental illnesses within the agency.
Qualifications:
- Licensed LPN for the state of Georgia.
- BCLS certified
- CPI certified
- NCIC/DBHDD clearance
- Capable of lifting 50 pounds without assistance.
- Maintains current driver’s license if doing transportation
- Must have a positive attitude, flexibility, and ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitoring individuals' reactions to medication or treatment and reporting back to the registered nurse to request that the physician modify the treatment plan
- Work under the supervision of a registered nurse
- Report to the registered nurse
- Specific nursing duties as assigned
- Medication administration
- Supports individuals in planning nutritious meals, and supporting those with special diets.
- Cooperates with family members regarding reasonable requests related to individual needs.
- Train staff on the medical needs of individuals as needed
- Dispose of hazardous materials in a safe manner
- Ensure the medications are documented on the MARs as prescribed by the physician.
- Review the ISP
- Attend ISP Meetings, if applicable

- Ensure practice of the ‘Eight Rights of Medication’
- Oversee the services delivered by direct care staff and CNAs
- Administering G-tube feeding
- ADLs
- Nursing Assessments

- Responsible for observing, documenting, reporting and taking action to ensure the quality for services for the individuals
- Follow-up to promote quality of life for the individuals being served
- Actively participate in the Quality Improvement Plan
- Assure that medications are stored according to guidelines
- Ensure doctor’s appointments are adhered to and follow-ups completed as needed
- Confer with physicians, RN, PAs and NP to ensure the health status of the individual is in compliance with their suggestions, recommendations, referrals etc.
- Other nursing direct duties as assigned by a RN
- Transportation, if applicable (must meet DBHDD transportation requirements)
Competency
- Fluent in the written and spoken English language
- Basic computer skills
- Trainings as required by DBHDD
- Ongoing training (minimum 16 hours annually)
