A Textile Manager in a fiberglass mesh manufacturing factory (like your Himanshu Trading Company) is responsible for ensuring smooth production, quality, efficiency, and manpower management across the entire manufacturing process.
Key Roles & Responsibilities of a Textile Manager
1. Production Planning
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production plans.
- Allocate machines based on customer orders.
- Ensure production targets are achieved on time.
- Reduce machine idle time.
2. Raw Material Management
- Monitor fiberglass yarn consumption.
- Verify yarn quality before production.
- Control wastage of yarn, chemicals, and packing materials.
- Coordinate with the purchase department for material requirements.
3. Warping Department
- Plan beam preparation.
- Ensure correct number of ends, beam length, and tension.
- Minimize beam rejection.
- Maintain beam records.
4. Weaving Department
- Monitor loom efficiency.
- Reduce loom stoppages.
- Maintain fabric GSM and mesh size.
- Improve production efficiency.
5. Coating Department
- Control coating recipe.
- Monitor chemical consumption.
- Ensure proper drying and curing.
- Check coating weight and adhesion.
6. Cutting & Packing
- Ensure correct roll length and width.
- Verify labeling and packing.
- Reduce cutting losses.
- Maintain finished goods inventory.
7. Quality Control
- Check:
- GSM
- Mesh size
- Roll length
- Roll weight
- Tensile strength
- Coating quality
- Appearance defects
- Approve finished goods before dispatch.
8. Machine Maintenance Coordination
- Coordinate with maintenance team.
- Reduce machine breakdowns.
- Plan preventive maintenance.
- Maintain machine health records.
9. Manpower Management
- Allocate operators and helpers.
- Monitor attendance.
- Train new workers.
- Improve worker productivity.
- Evaluate operator performance.
10. Cost Control
- Reduce production cost per square meter.
- Control electricity consumption.
- Reduce LPG/gas consumption.
- Minimize chemical and yarn wastage.
11. Inventory Control
- Monitor stock of:
- Fiberglass yarn
- Chemicals
- Packing materials
- Finished goods
- Spare parts
12. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure PPE usage.
- Follow fire safety procedures.
- Maintain housekeeping (5S).
- Ensure safe handling of chemicals and LPG.
13. Daily Reporting
Prepare reports on:
- Machine-wise production
- Shift-wise production
- Operator-wise production
- Wastage
- Rejection
- Machine downtime
- Quality defects
- Material consumption
14. Process Improvement
- Improve production efficiency.
- Reduce changeover time.
- Introduce SOPs.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen practices.
- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
15. Coordination with Other Departments
