About the role

The Student Computing Center is accepting applications for Student Assistant positions to be filled for the summer semester. If you enjoy solving problems while helping people, having a campus job that adjusts around your academic schedule, and working with computers, printers, and audio/video equipment, then this is the job for you. A job in Technology Services Open Access Labs offers: Flexible schedule around classes with options to work nights and weekends Chance to interact with a group of peers and customers Opportunities to interact with and learn new technology Windows/Mac computers Xerox printers HP large format printing Audio/video systems TAMU systems & networks Opportunities to develop leadership skills including: Problem solving Peer Performance Evaluations Active Listening Mentoring Independent Projects Technical support and troubleshooting techniques including incident management and problem escalation Learning Outcomes: Demonstrate effective communication and phone etiquette via new employee training and utilization of internal tools. Demonstrate troubleshooting methodologies through incident review during and post-resolution. Demonstrate internal and external customer interaction skills through semesterly training and individual evaluations. Position Responsibilities: Assist customers and campus member inside the Student Computing Center using our facilities, technology and equipment. Travel outside the building to maintain equipment around the central & south side of campus. Maintain our computers, printers and audio/video equipment. Work our night shift during the first semester (15 weeks) of employment. Record and enter lab usage data on an hourly basis. Clean and organize the equipment in the Student Computing Center.
