About the role

POSITION PURPOSE: To support the Assistant Director in the development of programs and publications in order to achieve the goals of the Career Center and university related to career services, as well as the development of Aggie Career Team student-leaders. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ● Aid the Career Coordinator with the coordination and leadership development of Aggie Career Team (ACT), a career peer-educator student organization sponsored by the Texas A&M Career Center ● Research and apply student development theory through advising of Aggie Career Team ● Advise the President, Executive Vice President, and Vice Presidents via intentional meetings and trainings ● Orient new Aggie Career Team members to the organization and Career Center services ● Conduct one-on-one advising meetings with undergraduate students seeking assistance with job search skills (i.e., resume writing) or career exploration ● Conduct 1-2 presentations per semester on the services offered by the Career Center ● Create, submit, and (if accepted) present at least 1 proposal for a professional conference ● Participate in higher education trainings and certifications (such as QPR Suicide Prevention, Green Dot, and Aggie Ally) ● Participate in regular reflection with the Assistant Director on internship experience ● Perform clerical duties such as making copies, gathering resources for workshops, and updating files, etc. ● Perform other duties as assigned (including graduate school exploration and application) POSITION DETAILS: ● 20 hours/week ● Paid position ● Course credit negotiable ● Start Date: August 4 (negotiable), with training in May or June ● Apply via Jobs for Aggies LEARNING OUTCOMES ● Oral/Written Communication: Listen actively and critically ● Leadership: Use interpersonal skills to coach and develop others ● Career Management: Formulate a plan of personal goals for continued professional growth
