After Hours Crisis Screener - Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD)
Role Responsibilities
The After-Hours Crisis Screener – IDD performs emergency face-to-face and telehealth screenings and assessments for persons with IDD experiencing a mental health crisis. The candidate takes the following steps to resolve the crisis:
- Dedicate adequate response time (typically a one-hour response on-site at the screening location)
- Use due diligence in determining the cause of the crisis and in seeking collateral information from others involved (hospital staff, law enforcement, family members, etc.)
- Consult with Texana’s psychiatrist or IDD Crisis Intervention Specialist (IDD-CIS) team to obtain a recommendation for resolving the crisis
- Communicate recommendations to those involved in the crisis and help facilitate the recommendation
- Conduct follow-up after the crisis and provide appropriate referrals
- Submit complete and accurate documentation in the Texana EHR by the next business morning
The successful candidate must have experience working with individuals with IDD and possess excellent skills for problem solving, de-escalation, usage of audio-visual technology, and professional communication. During the training and on-boarding period, the candidate must demonstrate availability for calls Monday-Friday, 5 PM-6 AM, and on weekends and holidays. Travel in the Texana Center 6-county area and adherence to and promotion of the Texana Compliance Policy are required.
Salary
- $150.00 per screening with set adjustments for the training period, follow-up for services, mentoring future candidates and Texana Center holidays
Required Education and/or Certifications, Experience, Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in related Human Services field
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- 6 months working in the IDD field as an IDD Service Coordinator.
Job Related Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform SAMA and CPR.
- Must be able to perform moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 lbs.), pushing, stooping, repeated bending, reaching above shoulder, simple grasping, hearing, walking, sitting and twisting.
- Must have ability to see, write, operate office equipment, operate a motor vehicle and have depth perception.
- Qualified individual must be able to perform these functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
