Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Testing and Commissioning Engineer (EEE only) role based in Chennai. The role involves planning and executing testing and commissioning activities for electrical systems and equipment in power plants and substations, ensuring conformity with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The engineer will perform electrical testing, calibration, and functional checks on protection systems, switchgear, transformers, breakers, and associated control panels. Daily responsibilities include diagnosing issues, performing root-cause analysis, coordinating with project teams, contractors, and clients, and preparing detailed test reports and documentation. The role also requires supporting site inspections, participating in technical reviews, and ensuring proper handover of commissioned systems to operations teams.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering with hands-on experience in Electrical Testing and Testing of power system equipment.
- Practical experience as part of Commissioning teams or in Commissioning Engineer roles for power plants, substations, or similar installations.
- Demonstrated ability in Troubleshooting of electrical faults, protection issues, and control system problems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) or equivalent is required.
- Knowledge of power system protection, switchgear, transformers, and control & relay panels.
- Familiarity with industry standards, safety practices, and relevant codes for testing and commissioning.
- Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Effective communication skills, team collaboration, and willingness to work at project sites and in field conditions.
- Relevant certifications in testing and commissioning, power systems, or safety (such as LV/MV/HV systems) are an advantage.
