About the role

What To Expect
The Homologation Engineer – EMEA will play a crucial role in all Tesla battery packs & cells meet regulatory/compliance standards in European and other international market. This position focuses on managing certification processes (working with regulatory authorities and test house), monitoring regulatory developments, and providing actionable insights internally. The candidate will act as a liaison between European regulatory bodies and the headquarters, ensuring the company stays at the forefront of evolving standards and directives.

What You'll Do

  • Certification & Compliance: Coordinate and manage the EU certification processes for battery packs in compliance with UNECE R100, Article 10, UN38.3, and other applicable standards and regulations; Ensure timely and accurate preparation, submission, and tracking of certification applications and reports; Collect, maintain, and manage technical data and documentation to support compliance efforts
  • Regulatory Monitoring, Reporting and Testing: Track and analyze all regulatory developments related vehicle attributes (all and not just Battery) from European regulations; Review, summarize, and report upcoming regulatory changes, assessing their potential impact on product compliance and development; Share relevant insights and recommendations with internal teams and headquarters to align business strategies with regulatory requirements; Work with local test house to complete certification before hand (ordering parts --> test execution & test completion)
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Actively participate in international regulatory discussions and forums to represent the company’s interests and stay ahead of compliance trends; Collaborate with internal teams, certification bodies, and other external stakeholders to streamline homologation activities.
  • Cross-functional Support: Provide guidance to product development teams to ensure new and existing products align with current and future regulations.
  • Travel & Representation: Travel domestically and internationally as needed to support homologation activities, attend meetings, or represent the company in regulatory discussions.


  • What You'll Bring

  • Education in Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related technical discipline with minimum of 2 years of experience in automotive homologation or a directly related field, with a focus on EU type approval activities
  • Specific experience in homologation, battery certification and compliance is a must
  • Strong understanding of UNECE R100, (EU) 2023/1542 (Article 10), UN38.3, and other relevant battery-related regulations
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills, particularly in interactions with authorities and regulatory bodies
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English; additional language skills are a plus
  • Familiarity with international regulatory frameworks and trends affecting battery technology
  • Other Requirements: Willingness and ability to travel domestically and globally as required &Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess complex regulatory data
