Required Skills
• Teradata Expertise
o 10+ years of hands on experience in Teradata development
o Strong understanding of Teradata architecture, indexing, partitioning, and workload management
• Advanced SQL
o Expertise in complex SQL, performance tuning, query optimization, and large scale data processing
• Data Warehousing Concepts
o Strong knowledge of dimensional modelling, data integration, ETL/ELT patterns, and reporting layers
• Teradata Utilities
o Hands on experience with utilities such as BTEQ, Fast Load, Multiload, TPT, TPump
• Data Migration Experience
o Proven experience migrating data and workloads from Teradata to modern data platforms or data lakes
• Problem Solving & Troubleshooting
o Strong analytical skills with ability to debug complex data and performance issues
Secondary/Preffered Skills:
• Data Lake Technologies
o Exposure to cloud or on prem data lake platforms (e.g., Azure Data Lake, AWS S3, GCP, Hadoop ecosystems)
• Cloud & Modern Data Stack
o Familiarity with cloud data warehouses or analytics platforms (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Synapse)
• ETL / Data Engineering Tools
o Experience with tools such as Informatica, DataStage, Talend, or Spark based pipelines
• Automation & DevOps
o Knowledge of scripting, automation, CI/CD, or deployment pipelines for data workloads
• Stakeholder & Team Leadership
o Experience leading teams, mentoring developers, and coordinating with cross functional stakeholders
• Documentation & Training
o Ability to create clear technical documentation and conduct knowledge transfer sessions
Roles & Responsiblities:
Teradata Development & Migration
• Lead the design, development, and optimization of Teradata databases and applications as part of the data lake migration program.
• Analyze existing Teradata schemas, data models, SQL workloads, and ETL processes to support migration planning.
• Define and execute migration strategies (re platforming, re engineering, or hybrid approaches) from Teradata to the target Data Lake.
• Ensure data reconciliation, validation, and performance benchmarking post migration.
Technical Leadership
• Provide technical leadership to Teradata developers and data engineers.
• Review complex SQL, stored procedures, and Teradata workloads for performance and scalability.
• Guide best practices in SQL optimization, data modelling, and workload management.
• Liaise with Teradata support teams and other technology vendors for issue resolution.
System Configuration & Operations
• Configure, test, and troubleshoot Teradata systems and utilities.
• Monitor and tune Teradata performance during coexistence and transition phases.
• Support data operations activities including incident management, root cause analysis, and remediation.
Stakeholder & Delivery Management
• Collaborate with architects, business teams, and program managers to align technical delivery with business goals.
• Provide regular status updates, risk assessments, and technical inputs for program reviews.
• Support UAT, data validation, and sign off activities.
Knowledge Transfer & Enablement
• Provide training and technical guidance to internal teams and end users.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, migration runbooks, and operational guides
