Position Purpose
Serves as the site program manager in the field of Equipment Reliability. Provides recommendations on behalf of the site regarding critical and/or controversial issues related to equipment classification, equipment performance monitoring, preventative maintenance strategies, life cycle management, equipment failure analysis and trending, margin management, Plant Health, System Health, and equipment performance indicators. Is responsible for one or more programs or program components of such magnitude, diversity and scope that their technical performance is of critical importance to the sites overall engineering objectives.
Principal Accountabilities
Provides site oversight of Equipment Reliability implementation by monitoring work and performance of policies, procedures, practices and metrics to achieve desired outcomes consistent with industry best performance in equipment reliability.
Serves as focal point for station equipment reliability programs and processes.
Provides training on equipment reliability processes, procedures and tools.
Ensures all commitments are met in regard to engineering equipment reliability actions.
Serves as a member of PMRC, PHSC, and PHC.
Develops and maintains site and fleet equipment reliability performance indicators.
Develops and maintains site and department equipment reliability business plans
Develops annual equipment trend reports for engineering
Is accountable and influential for the station’s interests on industry committees for regulatory issues, research and the future of the US Nuclear industry. May hold the chairmanship or other high position on these committees.
Participates in the development of long-range planning involving large fiscal expenditures for the site.
Understands, develops and provides interpretations of engineering regulations, policies and industry standards and provides the recommendations on these matters.
Provides oversight and expertise for engineering IRIS reporting
Works as an individual contributor or as a team leader in planning, organizing and supervising the work of specialist level engineers in an intensely specialized field.
Minimum Requirements
Education – Four year Degree preferably in Engineering or science related discipline. An advanced degree is highly desirable.
Experience – Ten years of experience associated with the design, construction, maintenance, and/or operation of a power generating plant with at least 4 years of experience in the nuclear power industry. Extensive experience in interfacing with other engineering disciplines, integrating Equipment Reliability requirements and expertise into the engineering process, and a broad exposure to major problems/issues with demonstrated ability for their identification and resolution.
Certification/License, etc — Professional Engineering License and/or SRO certification is desirable.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities — A detailed working knowledge of the equipment reliability programs; the ability to analyze complex technical and management problems and determine the most cost effective solutions; and a working knowledge of upper tier external and internal documents which govern nuclear power plant operations (e.g., 10 CFR, 18 CFR, FSAR, NQAM, etc.). Extensive familiarity with equipment performance trending and monitoring tools and techniques to optimize equipment reliability and cost. High level of proficiency with enterprise and other TVA software systems to obtain and analyze equipment data and to communicate trends and recommendations to station decision makers. Strong knowledge of MS Office tools and must possess strong technical skills with Excel and Access. Candidate should be familiar with equipment failure analysis approaches including root cause, apparent cause, and common cause. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey information and develop presentations for multiple levels of the organization. Candidate requires the ability to analyze large amounts of data and provide recommendations to support development of equipment reliability strategies.
