DUTIES
In addition to the duties of an Emergency Services Operator Level II, directs, and maintains operating procedures in assuring an acceptable and comprehensive fire protection and emergency service program. Participates in the formulation of policies by making researched and documented recommendations to the Fire Marshal. Participates with Management and the Fire Marshal in preparation of fire regulations, procedures, and training outlines on new equipment. Ensures that all personnel and equipment are in readiness at all times to answer emergencies.
Directs work activities of assigned shift personnel in the inspection and testing of fire protection equipment when assigned.
Advises the Operations Management and the Fire Marshal of all deficiencies noted pertaining to fire protection, firefighting, hazardous materials, emergency medical and rescue operations and assigned work activities.
Indoctrinates assigned personnel as to their responsibility toward the fire protection and emergency medical mission. Assures that all personnel are familiar with current publications, directives, and standard operations procedures.
Implements all policies set forth by Operations Management and the Fire Marshal to assure effective and efficient response to emergencies and suppression of fires.
Evaluates fire protection impairment and transient fire load request to determine applicable impacts to the plant fire protection features, recommend appropriate compensatory measures, determine applicable Fire Protection Report Limiting Conditions of Operation, and process, issue, track and close permits and evaluations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a minimum of 2 years experience as an Emergency Services Operator Level II or equivalent fire fighting and leadership experience .
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Under the general supervision of the Shift Manager or designee during daily activities and plant emergencies. Completed work is subject to inspection by the Fire Marshal.
SUPERVISION OVER OTHERS
Supervises the work of assigned emergency response personnel on a shift basis.
