Description of Job Duty:
The Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life plays a key role in advancing Tennessee Tech’s fraternity and sorority community by supporting chapter leadership, advising governing councils, and promoting values‑based engagement. This position focuses on leadership development, membership growth, and collaborative partnerships that elevate the visibility, vitality, and positive impact of Fraternity and Sorority Life. Through intentional training, advising, and coordinated initiatives, the Assistant Director helps cultivate an inclusive, responsible, and student‑centered fraternal experience that supports student success and aligns with institutional priorities.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Advise fraternity and sorority chapters, governing councils, and student leaders with an emphasis on leadership development, organizational effectiveness, and values‑based decision‑making.
- Support chapter operations and community growth by providing guidance related to recruitment, new member education, membership development, risk management, and advisor engagement.
- Design and facilitate training initiatives for chapters and councils focused on leadership skills, community standards, wellness, safety, and professionalism.
- Collaborate with campus partners, alumni advisors, and inter/national headquarters staff to promote a cohesive and supportive fraternity and sorority experience.
- Lead efforts to enhance the visibility and engagement of Fraternity and Sorority Life through coordinated events, communication strategies, marketing initiatives, and recognition programs.
- Administer Fraternity and Sorority Life processes related to chapter recognition, events, membership procedures, and use of Eagle Engage to support engagement and operational effectiveness within the community.
- Promote accountability and community standards by guiding chapters and councils in understanding and adhering to university expectations and governing body policies.
- Collect, review, and analyze membership, participation, and academic data to inform program improvements, strategic direction, and community development efforts.
- Serve as an active member of the Student Engagement staff and contribute to divisional initiatives, committees, and signature programs supporting fraternities and sororities.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned in support of Fraternity and Sorority Life and institutional goals.

Work Hours:
Standard hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Nights and weekend hours are typical as many meetings must be scheduled when most students are not in class.

Salary:
Commensurate with education and experience. Level P3, Grade 11.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and at least four years of relevant professional experience in student affairs, fraternity/sorority life, or a related field; or a master’s degree with at least two years of related professional experience.
- Experience advising fraternities, sororities, or governing councils within a campus‑based or inter/national organization context.
- Knowledge of fraternity and sorority life, including chapter operations, council structures, recruitment and intake practices, and risk management expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to design and facilitate leadership development, training programs, or educational workshops for fraternity and sorority members.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, alumni advisors, campus partners, and inter/national organization representatives.
- Experience using fraternity and sorority or student engagement management platforms (e.g., Eagle Engage (CampusGroups) or similar systems).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a student‑centered, collaborative, and developmental approach.
- Commitment to inclusive practices, ethical leadership, and the advancement of Fraternity and Sorority Life as a positive force on campus.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 2- 3 years of experience as a full-time coordinator, program manager, other professional role in student affairs at institutions of higher education or an inter/national fraternity or sorority organization. At least 1 year of direct professional (non-volunteer) responsibility for fraternity/sorority advising and/or student organization programs. Experience as a graduate assistant or officer of a student organization may be considered equivalent to part-time experience.
